View from the East West Hotel in Basel

You can thank the East West Hotel for this amazing view of Basel in Switzerland. Their webcam faces out onto the River Rhine where it’s crossed by the impressive Mittlere Brüke or Middle Bridge.

The Mittlere Brüke is a seven-arch, granite stone construction which dates back to sometime around the 12th century. While once it would have been crossed by pack horses and mules pulling carts of goods in and out of the city, then by modern vehicles, it’s now only used by pedestrians and public transport services which helps to ensure its continuing conservation.
