Trans-Ili Alatau Webcam Views from Almaty

If you’re on a mission to discover the most boring webcam view, congratulations, you may just have achieved your goal. There is nothing scenic or even faintly exciting about this view being streamed from Almaty in Kazakhstan. Although that said, the trees are quite pretty. If the cam angle was re-adjusted to its previous position where it appeared to focus on the Trans-Ili Alatau, or the fog and clouds lifted, then things might be a whole lot different.

The Trans-Ili Alatau is a spectacular mountain range that stretches between Kazakhstan and the neighbouring country of Kyrgyzstan. The highest point in the range is the three-thousand metre high, Talger Peak, which, if the camera lens and the weather played the game, can be seen from Almaty. But until either of those events occur, you’ll have to make do with viewing a couple of not-so-attractive tower blocks.

Almaty was, historically, the capital of Kazakhstan and while it no longer is, it still holds number one ranking for being the biggest city in the country. It’s also the most populated and is home to more than two million people. That numerous population is incremented even more by the influx of visitors who travel there to enjoy adventurous outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing and mountain climbing or photographing the very scenic Big Almaty Lake.
