San Antonio Harbour and Beach Views

When you want to broadcast a production that catches the eye of thousands, if not millions, of viewers then that program needs to have a great theme. Canal 2 Television, who stream this collection of live feeds from San Antonio in Chile, didn’t need to resort to high-budget dramatic fiction to enthral their audience, they just focus their cameras on the city itself – captivating and practically cost free.

While San Antonio at first glance at the views on these cams may look like a small coastal town, it’s anything but. The sprawling port city has been continually expanding its urban reach since it was founded in the late 19th century and now covers over four-hundred square kilometres so it’s definitely not somewhere you can explore on foot during a day of sightseeing.

Hopefully what will never be televised on these cams is the type of destruction that San Antonio underwent in the mid-80s when the Algarrobo earthquake devastated the city. Forty years after that event, the city has recovered and is heading toward a prosperous future not only as one of the country’s major ports, but as a city renowned for its wine and gastronomic offerings. And let’s face it, even if the ground trembles beneath your feet almost on a daily basis, anywhere where there’s great seafood, a good glass of plonk on offer and a beach like these on the doorstep has to be worth a visit, no?
