River Rhine Views from Rees

The River Rhine is over one-thousand two-hundred kilometres long so only a short stretch of it flows through the town of Rees in western Germany. Take a look at these river webcams and there’s no arguing it’s an attractive stretch and one the town of Rees has made good use of.

The riverside walkway is a popular exercise spot no matter what the season is so even if the temperature drops, as it frequently does in winter, there’s always plenty of two-legged and four-legged beings getting their daily constitutionals. Along the way the walkers get the chance to contemplate how construction has developed over the years and there’s some big differences to see. In parts the walkway winds around the town’s mediaeval walls before delivering a super view of the one kilometre long Rees-Kalkar Rhine Bridge. The walls have been standing since the 13th century, but the bridge has only been in place since the late 1960s. It’ll be interesting to see if it’s still there seven hundred years from now.
