Finland doesn’t often get the credit it deserves for being a scenic country. A few minutes viewing this webcam streaming from Raahe, a port city on the central west coast, will make you wonder why because it is breathtaking.

On this cam, Raahe may look like a thoroughly modern city, but it’s not. Raahe has one of only ten remaining historical wooden centres in the country. It’s not just the historical centre that attracts visitors to this beautiful spot on the Gulf of Bothnia though. The surrounding forested landscapes are a major draw and popular for hiking, fat biking and cross country skiing. For Finland, the weather in Raahe is quite decent too. Average summer temperatures don’t get much higher than 20ºC and take a dip down to around -1ºC or just below during the winter. That makes Raahe a pretty cool place to be all year round.
