Port and Harbour Cams from CMAL in Scotland

If you’ve never been to Scotland, this collection of live feeds may well entice you to put it on your it’s-about-time-I-went-there list. While they don’t show a lot of Scottish scenery, thanks to CMAL, guaranteed, they will help you recognise a ferry port or two if you do eventually go there.

Catch a boat to go to any of the islands along the country’s west coast and you’ll be using the services run by Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd, CMAL. As you can see on these feeds, they keep the port and harbour areas pretty spick and span. Whether that’s because the harbourmasters and their crew are good at keeping on top of their housekeeping or because there’s not a great deal of passenger traffic to the Inner and Outer Hebrides, only they know.

In the two archipelagos, there are around fifty islands that are inhabited and a hundred or so that are not – unless you count seagulls and seals in the equation. Unequally dispersed between those fifty craggy isles is a hardy fifty thousand folk so choose to visit one of the lesser populated ones and you quite likely won’t see a soul the whole time you’re there. If that sounds just like the holiday, or even new lifestyle, you need make sure to pack your wellies and your woolies, you’ll need them.
