Osaka Expo 2025 Webcam

Whatever you were hoping to see on this live feed of the Osaka Expo 2025 is quite possibly not what you’ll get to see. Join the feed during the hours of darkness and it looks a little like a giant has left their laundry hung out to dry overnight in a garden decorated with an illuminated reindeer. Rest assured that is not what you are looking at at all. What you are seeing are the sheet-like pavilion coverings and okay, an illuminated reindeer in front of one of the Scandinavian participants’ pavilions. Rejoin the cam in daylight and the view will look, if not totally, at least a little different.

The Osaka World Expo 2025 is a lengthy, six-month long event that takes place between April and October. Osaka, a heavily populated city on Japan’s Honshu Island, was chosen to be the 2025 venue after beating two other competing cities, one in Russia and the other in Azerbaijan, at secret votings by the BIE. A vote, by the International Exhibition Bureau, (BIE) that’s not that secret as the results of those 2016 and 2018 ballots are posted for everyone to see on Wikipedia.

Osaka’s theme of redesigning societies to improve worldwide health and lifestyles has inspired many countries to embrace the concept and exhibit their ideas for the future. What could be slightly puzzling though, is why the organisers chose the event mascot they did. Myaku-Myaku, a name which partly translates as something akin to connections to other countries and unforgotten history, is a blue comic book-style creature with a red, tumorous head and five eyes. Spend a couple of minutes thinking about it and Myaku-Myaku won’t be such a puzzling choice after all.
