Muscatine Webcam from Musser Public Library

If you’re a curious sort then you’ll love this webcam streaming from Muscatine in Iowa, if only because you can see exactly what a pigeon on the roof of Musser Public Library can see. And if you’re planning on heading to the library to change your books, you can also find out if there’s a vacant parking space on East 2nd Street which makes the cam pretty useful all round.

Muscatine has a few historical claims to fame, but as this cam is perched on the library roof, mentioning Mark Twain seems like a must. Mr. Twain, indisputably one of America’s greatest authors, lived and worked in Muscatine in 1855. No, he wasn’t incrementing his author’s income by stacking books on shelves, but wrote for his brother’s newspaper, the Muscatine Journal. It must have been a pleasant experience as Twain mentioned Muscatine in his book, Life on the Mississippi. He seemed particularly enamoured with the sunsets in Muscatine. Sadly, you can’t see the sun setting over Muscatine on this webcam so you’ll have to read his book to find out why they impressed him so much.
