Hemenway Park Webcam in Boulder City

You’ll probably want to skip watching this live feed of Hemenway Park during the nighttime hours unless you’re a fan of monochrome views of trees. If you find black and white, or better said phantasmal murky grey, restful on the eyes then by all means watch away. Drop by the feed in daylight and it’s an entirely different picture. And it’s quite a scenic one too with mountains and a lake in the background, but what will undoubtedly draw your eye is the immaculately kept and very green grass.

Lushness is a rarity in Nevada, the most arid state in the US, which is probably why most people passing through the park respectfully keep to the pathway rather than stand on those delicate verdant stalks. Boulder City, not to be confused with Boulder in Colorado, is not far from the bright lights of Las Vegas. Unlike its glitzy neighbour, Boulder City is not infamous for its neon signs and endless games of chance because gambling has been banned there since the 1930s. And fair play for that.

Boulder City, located on the shores of Lake Mead, is near the Hoover Dam and that’s something the city’s marketing executives haven’t missed out on. Dam, not damn, who could use such profanity, has become the promotional, and somewhat tongue in cheek, attention-grabbing word in a variety of advertising campaigns over the years. Those campaigns have been pretty successful, but not quite as successful as the development of this ten acre urban relaxation area. Why? Growing grass is a big gamble in Nevada but, as you can see, in the Hemenway Park they’re on a winning streak.
