Governor’s Harbour Webcam on Eleuthera
Eleuthera is an island in the Bahamas that’s a hundred times longer than it is wide – literally. While lengthwise it stretches for over a hundred miles in most parts it’s no wider than a mile. In some ways that’s not such a bad thing as the island has two-hundred miles of incredible coastline dotted with pink beaches, coral reefs and caves.
Governor’s Harbour, the tranquil palm tree and yacht filled scene transmitted on this webcam is on the island’s narrow central section. It’s so narrow that if you stand on one side you can almost hear the waves lapping against the shore on the opposite side of the island. While Governor’s Harbour with the yachts at anchor appears to be the epitome of a peaceful paradise and it is. Head south to Lighthouse Point near Bannerman Town though and that all changes as that’s the new, exclusive and controversial anchorage for the Disney cruise ships that sail the Bahamas. Whether Eleuthera will remain a virtually unspoilt paradise now the ships are disgorging thousands of passengers there is something that remains to be seen.
Thank you for this webcam. I call Eleuthera my ” other home” , miss it all. Will be back there in May for 7 days. Looking at the cam makes it harder to wait.
Dreamt of coming since the 80-90s next week I will arrive
I have enjoyed Eleuthera since I was 6 years old at French leave , seldom missing a year now. Now I am 62 and I am even more appreciative of the island and it’s tranquility! My children have the love of the island in their souls and now my grandchildren do. The beat goes on!
