Franciscus Huis Weert – Former Church Webcam

When the church in the Dutch town of Weert became too small for its congregation, services were transferred to a new and much larger place of worship. The disused church building didn’t stay disused for long though.

Churches have long since been places of social interaction and this renovated church building takes that to a whole new level. The building, dedicated to St Francis of Assisi, is on the verge of celebrating its one hundredth birthday and still serves the local community, but not as a place of prayer. Now known as the Franciscus Huis, the converted building provides a place for cultural events and social gatherings for the people of Weert. Let’s hope it will continue to be of service for another hundred years to come.
