Colunga City Views

When you’ve been searching for somewhere far away from the typical touristic humdrum of Spanish resort areas and have resulted with zilch, well done for not giving up. You can now start celebrating and packing your bags because you’ve finally found it. Why? Because, while it may not initially appear to be so from this live feed, Colunga is a Spanish town on the country’s Cantabrian coast with plenty of beaches nearby. And they’re ones that are well worth donning your swimsuit, gathering your towel and slapping on that factor 30 sun lotion for. And if cider is your go-to beverage rather than beer, well, even better. And that’s not all.

Colunga is located in the Asturias region of northern Spain and although it may appear to be a sleepy, mountain town on this feed, it’s anything but. There’s more to do of interest around and about Colunga than there is on the country’s infamous Costa del Sol. If history and architecture or visiting museums rather than beaches are what interest you, you won’t be short changed in Colunga on that score and that’s for sure.

In Colunga, when you’ve had your fill of exploring the streets, visiting the Jurassic Museum, that’s shaped like a dinosaur footprint, and reclining on the sands, you can always hike up the Picu Pienzu in the Sierra del Sueve and admire it all from afar. That’s a steady trek of eleven kilometres to an altitude of just under one-thousand, two-hundred metres. If it’s not already on your must-do list, then it’s time it was. When you come back down, you can quench your thirst with a well-deserved glass or two of Spanish cider – if you can stomach it.
