Bartlesville Town Webcam

There’s not a lot to see on this live feed streaming from Bartlesville in Oklahoma other than some power cables and a constant stream of vehicles heading towards or leaving the parking lot of the local mall. You’d need to be a psychic to discern whether the occupants of those vehicles are drooling in anticipation of bagging a bargain at Aldi or are salivating in success at paying less than they expected in whatever store they visited.

When Gene Pitney sang that chart topping song about being 24 hours from Tulsa in the early 1960s, guaranteed Bartlesville wasn’t the place in the minds of the songwriters, Burt Baccarach and Hal David. Bartlesville wasn’t that far from the more well-known city in Oklahoma then and even though the urbanisation has spread, still isn’t. Bartlesville is only forty-seven miles from Tulsa, which is a drive that would take about a couple of hours in an old Chevy and around twelve hours if you’re riding a 1hp vehicle otherwise known as a horse.

Which method of transport would they choose in Bartlesville? It’s not difficult to discern. This petrolhead city, that was once the base of one of the biggest refining companies in the US, definitely favours four wheels over four hooves. The proof? There’s not a horse to be seen anywhere.
