Amberg Town Webcams
View this webcam of Amberg marketplace when there’s not an event happening and you could be forgiven for thinking this live feed is being streamed from medieval times. It’s not and any notion you had that it might be will soon be dispensed off when you spot the cyclists whizzing through the pedestrians.
The German town of Amberg has a history dating back to around the early 11th century. The buildings that surround the marketplace aren’t quite that old though. Several, including the town hall, are a few hundred years younger and were constructed in the mid-14th century. Whoever was responsible for building them did an amazing job as they’re still standing and looking almost as good as new.
While Amberg may appear to be a sleepy town where not a lot happens, it’s quite the opposite. Amberg is a town that has embraced a variety of festivals and made them its own. Annually held events, such as the food truck fest, the summer in the city fest and the pilgrimage fest to name just three, and there are many more, don’t all happen in the marketplace so you can’t watch them live or at least not on this cam. Those numerous yearly events all add up to make Amberg one of the liveliest towns in Bavaria. Yes, there’s no doubt about it, looks can be, and often are, deceiving.
