Sombrero Beach Webcam in Marathon
If you were searching for the Greek town of Marathon or even a live feed of a marathon race in progress, you’ll soon realise, that’s not what you’re looking at. You won’t be too disappointed though as this beach view being streamed from Sombrero Beach in Florida leaves little to be desired. It looks just as good whether you view it during the daytime, by the light of the moon or even during a thunderstorm when the palm trees are swaying. Check it out when the sun is setting and you’ll likely be even more impressed.
While thirteen may be an unlucky for some number, it’s not for Marathon. Thirteen is how many islands in the Florida Keys this city stretches over. That may sound extensive, but in total Marathon covers an approximate land area of just under twenty-two square kilometres. With a resident population bordering only ten-thousand, there’s room to enjoy the beauty of the location without too many folks getting in the way. Well, at least until the short-stayers arrive.
Marathon and its various keys are hotspots for sport fishermen, divers and bird spotters. Not surprising really as the offshore reefs are plentiful, the birdlife inhabiting the hardwood forests unusual and fishing methods for crustaceans a little on the strange side. If you’ve never tickled a lobster with a tickling stick, maybe you should start planning your next holiday and make the destination Marathon. If tickling for the ingredients of your seafood lunch doesn’t fall within your ethical boundary, don’t worry. You can always visit the Turtle Hospital, where they care and release injured sea turtles, instead.
