If you were hoping to see who was hooking what on this fishing pier in Surfside Beach, you’re going to be out of luck. This webcam is just a bit too far away to be able to view someone celebrating the catch of the day. And, this has to be mentioned just in case you’re geographically adrift, this is Surfside Beach in South Carolina, not Surfside Beach in Texas which is, as the crow flies, about two-thousand kilometres south.

Is there much difference between the two Surfside Beaches? The answer to that is – none that’s too discernible at first glance. In South Carolina they have a pier that’s almost two-hundred and fifty metres long. In Texas they have a jetty which is, according to local statistics, six-tenths of a mile long. If you enjoy mathematical puzzles, you’ll enjoy calculating which one is the longest. What they both have in common is they face onto the Atlantic Ocean so those waves lapping against the beautiful spreads of sandy beaches that line their coastline could actually be one and the same. That said though, it may be that Surfside Beach in South Carolina has the edge as far as sunrise views are concerned.
