Oudeschild Harbour Webcam

Most of the activity that happens on Texel, an island in northern Holland, happens in the harbour of the village of Oudeschild. There’s no shortage of maritime comings and goings as Oudeschild is still a working fishing village and also the port for the local ferry from the mainland.

Stay with the cam as it flits around and you’ll get a bonus view, fleeting though it may be, of the main street too. Once you’ve seen that it’s easy to comprehend why beachcombing is, and has been for years, a popular pastime in Oudeschild. It’s so popular in fact, the village has a museum which exhibits the most interesting finds.

As quiet a location as it may appear to be, Oudeschild, and Texel itself, attract plenty of visitors. A large part of the island is a protected nature reserve and a favourite haunt of migratory birds. The islanders are so considerate to their wildlife, they’ve even created a special haven for their feathered tourists and named it Utopia where no human access is allowed. Sounds absolutely perfect.
