Pitești Town Square Webcams

There are some amazing and very famous town and city squares around the world. Many are adorned with statues and monuments depicting local heroes or important historical figures. While the square in Pitesti, Romania, can’t compete with squares like Trafalgar in London, the Place de la Concorde in Paris or Times Square in New York, it does have a certain something that elevates it from the ordinary to special. That something is an illuminated, musical fountain.

Some tourists have been heard to say that once you’ve seen the fountain then you’ve seen Pitesti which, from a broader viewpoint, seems a little unjust. Pitesti has existed, in one form or another, on the banks of the River Arges since before the times of the Ancient Romans. Once a trading centre, more modern eras have seen industrialization take over the town and increase its population to almost one-hundred and fifty thousand.

Does Pitesti have anything worth seeing other than the fountain? The Saint Friday Church, or Biserica Sfânta Vineri, is architecturally interesting if you like that sort of thing. The Pitesti Prison Memorial is a museum dedicated to the inmates incarcerated there by the Communists which is fascinating for history buffs. For the less discerning visitor to Pitesti there’s a great shopping mall, a zoo and plenty of parks to explore. Pitesti may be underrated, but its fountain isn’t so, as there’s no rewind available on this feed, make sure to come back and catch the show live.
