West Kirby Beach Cam
Britain has a stunning coastline that’s peppered with incredible beaches that if it weren’t for the lack of one essential ingredient, namely more sunshine, could well be classed as some of the best in the world. But, as you’ll see via this live beach feed, it’s not always necessary for the temperatures to be hot enough to rival the Canary Islands for folks to head out onto the sand and make the most of what Nature has gifted them.
West Kirby beach is three-hundred metres-worth of golden sand that lines the seafront of the town. Folks flock there, not just to catch a few rays, but to sit and wait for the tide to go out so they can walk across the exposed sand flats to the Hilbre Islands. That’s the lumpy piece of land you can spot on the horizon if you squint hard enough. Little Eye, Middle Eye and Hilbre, the three islands that make up the mini archipelago in the Dee Estuary, are nature reserves and nesting zones for migratory birds.
A saunter across the seabed isn’t all you can do in West Kirby. If you’re in need of a decent leg stretch, you can join the twelve mile-long hiking trail known as the Wirral Way from West Kirby or if that sounds too exhausting, take a stroll around the Marine Lake. If none of those energetic activities appeal, grab yourself an ice cream and take a seat on the nearest bench to eat it while perusing the view.
Hi! Greetings from Finland from an ex-West Kirby dweller ; ) A quick question –
the new webcam is a very welcome addition to local ( Wirral ) webcams but
WHY is it ( almost ) never live???? Now for example here in Finland it’s 11.30 am
Monday 18.11 but the webcam shows yesterday Sunday 9.14 am – and so far
I’ve almost never seen a genuine ‘NOW’ image : ( .
