Whitby Abbey Webcam

The view on this webcam streamed by the folks at the Jet Black Jewel boutique hotel and cafe is one that deserves to be used as a jigsaw. There’s so much detail in it that it would drive even the most adept dissectologist to distraction.

It may also be a view that gives you a sense of deja vu even if you’ve never been to the Yorkshire seaside town of Whitby before. Whitby Abbey, the gothic-looking ruin that sits atop the hill in the distance, was partly responsible for inspiring Bram Stoker to put pen to paper and write the all time classic, Dracula. While the Count never stalked the nearby moors there were plenty of other ragamuffins who did and the town is steeped in myths and legends that are weird enough to make anyone’s hair stand on end. If you’re a horror fan then Whitby should definitely be on your list of places to visit. The fish and chips are first class in Whitby too which is another very valid reason to go there sooner rather than later.
