Harstad is a town on the Norwegian island of Hinnøya and is an urbanisation that occupies the shores of the forty-six kilometre long Vågsfjorden. A curious fact about Harstad is that, even though it is north of the Arctic Circle, it somehow escapes the extreme low temperatures normally associated with its frigid geographical location. That’s a bonus which means the city’s residents save a fortune on their wintertime heating bills and can afford to anchor a boat in Harstad harbour. That can only be money well spent when you live somewhere surrounded by water.
